This is good news for someone who likes to work with his hands and who is also looking for job security. If you want to become a plumber, you'll probably need to go to plumbing school. Plumbing school usually exists at a 2-year community or technical college. Some unions require plumbers to have an associate's degree in plumbing before being allowed to join. While in plumbing school, students are exposed to the many different types of plumbing problems that exist, including problems in both residential and commercial buildings. Plumbers-in-training will generally begin their studies in the classroom with other students, but will often be sent out of the classroom with professional plumbers as apprentices to apply their newfound skills.
